Introduction: Gift Books To your Child

Do we complain as parents telling our child doesn’t read books?

Oh, God! The second question is how many books do you have in our house?

The value of reading is the million-dollar question of this hour.

One would wonder with a wandering thought about the word values. This word has become so foreign, remote, and alien to the world nowadays. The big wigs and grey hairs express get anxious about the unpreparedness and the valueless lifestyle of the upcoming generations.

Books have lost their respect in sizeable homes. Reading books has got replaced with scrolling fingers and clicks. Lifestyle has metred to stylish appearances. Are we heading in the right direction? Are we directing our children in the right direction as parents and teachers?

Let us ask ourselves a few questions:

  • What’s my Shoe Size?
  • Where do I purchase them?
  • How much do they cost?

I think the answers will be lovely with a spectacular sight of the shoes as perceived, imagined or picturized like the one!
A classy royal look as we value them higher today! It is a big YES as I need to walk decently, royally, and splendidly.

But the fact is that I can talk without my feet but I cannot walk without my head.

READING BOOKS IS THE FOOD FOR THE HEAD!

OUR VALUE FOR BOOKS HAS DEGRADED TO A LEVEL THAT IS BEYOND THOUGHT!

The Most Unimaginable scenario of books on the pavement today!

Parent Book
It’s time to value Books! Value reading.

The axiom of the reader’s world – Abeunt studia in mores which means Studies permeate and shape manners.

To recall the words of Francis Bacon, Reading makes a full man

“Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted, nor to find talk and discourse, but to weigh and consider.

Histories make men wise; poets witty; the mathematics subtle; natural philosophy deep; moral grave; logic and rhetoric able to contend.”

LET’S REVIVE, RESPECT, AND RELIVE READING!

THE THREE MUSKETEERS OF READING:

1. BOOKS ARE MAGICAL!

Books create magic when we read them. They take us to the world behind, ahead, beneath, above, and to a new world altogether. They take us away from home but create a new home for us. Readers know well that they can live bigger than life and brighter. Explore the magic of your life now!

Crazy fact: Theodore Roosevelt, the President of the U.S read one book every day. Make your child now

2. BOOKS HAVE THE AROMA OF LIFE!

Books have a distinct aroma, and for many readers, that aroma is just as essential as the book’s content. For this, there is a word: BIBLIOSMIA.

We might laugh at kids smelling their new books. Trust me, it is the inherent quality of READING. A reader falls in love with the book he or she reads.

What is probably so unique is that no two old books of the centuries smell alike. Each has its odour. There exists scientifically an amalgamation of several chemicals but fundamentally they trigger the intended motives of the authorship. The odour can tell us the age of the book, its readership, and its very essence.

A lovely note to ponder- which e-book has odour today?

3. Books are great shreds of Evidence!

We can call it the incredible, amazing and unbelievable fact that books are the most trusted sources of evidence throughout history. Be it researchers, scientists, evangelists, sadhus, doctors, lawyers, philosophers, thinkers, coaches, constitutions, entrepreneurs, whosoever relies only on books as evidence.

We are quite familiar with the Guinness Book of Records. Well, the founder   Sir Hugh Beaver (1890—1967), Managing Director of the Guinness Brewery, attended a shooting party in County Wexford. There, he and his hosts argued about the fastest game bird* in Europe and failed to find an answer in any reference book.

We indeed love our kids but we fail to give the essentials yet times and it leads to irreparable damage to society. Let us leave a legacy as parents, teachers and counsellors. The legacy that makes our kids the musketeers of reading.

Remember, A good book is the best friend for a human at all stages of life.

As we slogan at Akshara:

A good reader now is a great leader forever.
